Maplehurst Farm Summer Wedding

Marissa and Wyatt’s wedding in Mount Vernon was one of those days that felt soft, joyful, and full of heart from beginning to end. I absolutely loved their celebration, and getting to photograph it at the beautiful Maplehurst Farm summer wedding made it even more special. It’s always sweet working there, and this wedding was no exception.

Tucked into the southern part of Skagit Valley along the Skagit River, this Maplehurst Farm summer wedding is one of those venues that feels like a storybook country estate. You drive in under a tunnel of old growth sugar maple trees and suddenly the rest of the world feels far away. The property has views of Mount Baker, a historic 1903 mansion and arbor, sprawling berry fields, a big open meadow, and a 5,000-square-foot event barn surrounded by manicured gardens. It’s the kind of place that already feels romantic before a single flower is placed.

Marissa and Wyatt got ready on site, which is one of my favorite things about Maplehurst. Everything is close by, but you still get that sense of calm and space. While the wedding party moved between the house, the barn, and the gardens, I bounced between little pockets of light—photographing details, quiet moments, and all the happy chaos of a wedding morning. The historic architecture and pretty window light made even the getting-ready photos feel timeless and elegant.

Their ceremony took place out on the lawn with the fields and trees stretching out behind them. One of the loveliest things about a wedding at Maplehurst Farm is how the scenery frames every moment—the green meadow, the distant farmland, and the big open sky all become part of the backdrop. As Marissa walked down the aisle, you could just feel how much this day meant to their families. The vows were heartfelt, the emotion was real, and there were plenty of happy tears (from more than just the couple).

After the ceremony, we wandered around the property for portraits. The grounds at Maplehurst are a photographer’s dream—winding garden paths, vine-covered arbors, the front of the mansion, the tree-lined drive, and open fields that catch the light beautifully. Marissa and Wyatt were so natural together. They slipped easily between laughter and quiet little moments, and you could see how at home they felt in each other’s arms. Some of my favorite images from the day were taken in that golden hour glow as the sun dropped behind the trees, lighting up the grass and giving everything a soft, romantic warmth.

The reception was held inside the big red barn, which is one of the standout features of a Maplehurst Farm summer wedding. The barn has this wonderful mix of rustic charm and thoughtful design—high ceilings, chandeliers, globe lights, and big doors that can open to create an indoor-outdoor feel with the adjacent patio. Marissa and Wyatt filled the space with personal details and soft décor that complemented the natural wood and made it feel extra cozy and welcoming.

Dinner was followed by some truly memorable toasts. I loved listening to their family and friends share stories—some that had everyone laughing, some that had people wiping their eyes, and many that painted such a sweet picture of who Marissa and Wyatt are, both individually and together. The speeches were one of my favorite parts of the day; you could feel how supported and loved they are by their people, and that came through so clearly in the photos too.

Once the formalities wrapped up, the barn turned into the best kind of dance party. The string lights, the music, the open barn doors letting in the evening air—it all came together to create such a fun, relaxed atmosphere. Guests moved between the dance floor, the patio, and the lawn, enjoying the fire pit, the gardens, and the chance to connect under the stars. That’s one of the things I love most about a Maplehurst Farm wedding: there’s so much room to spread out and enjoy the space, but it still feels intimate and connected.

Looking back on Marissa and Wyatt’s day, what stands out to me isn’t just how beautiful everything looked (though the scenery at Maplehurst is truly breathtaking). It’s the feeling of it all—the way their ceremony felt grounded and sincere, the way their families wrapped them in love, the way the barn glowed with warmth and laughter late into the evening. Being able to photograph their wedding after getting to know them was such a gift.

If you’re dreaming of a Mount Vernon wedding that feels like a classic country celebration—with mountain views, historic charm, open fields, and a barn that’s both rustic and refined—Maplehurst Farm is such a special place to say “I do.” Marissa and Wyatt’s wedding there will always be one I remember with a full heart.
