An Adventurous Engagement at Artist Point

I have always wanted to go to Artist Point, but somehow the timing had never quite worked out. It’s one of those places that lives in your head for a long time before you actually make it there. About an hour and a half from where I live, the drive feels like a commitment — the kind you save for the right people and the right moment. When Chelsea asked me to be her wedding photographer, I knew instantly: this was that moment to do their engagement photos at Artist Point.

Chelsea was a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed last year, and I had plenty of time to get to know her during that weekend. She’s one of those people who makes you feel comfortable right away — warm, genuine, and incredibly kind. By the end of the wedding, I adored her and her family, so when she reached out and asked me to photograph her own wedding, I was genuinely honored. And then I met her fiancé Daniel… the sweetest human. Truly. The kind of couple where you just know you’re going to have fun photographing them because their love shows up so effortlessly.

Artist Point felt like the perfect place for their engagement session. It matched them so well — adventurous but grounded, beautiful without trying too hard, quiet in a way that lets you really be present with each other. The drive up was stunning, winding through forests and opening up to sweeping mountain views that make you slow down and breathe a little deeper. Once we arrived, it was one of those wow moments. Photos don’t even fully do it justice.

What I loved most about this session wasn’t just the scenery, though. It was getting to know Chelsea and Daniel on a deeper, more personal level. Engagement sessions are special like that — they give you space to talk, to laugh, to hear how couples met, what they love about each other, and what they’re excited about for the future. Their love feels deep and mature, steady and intentional. There’s an ease between them that doesn’t need to be forced, and that’s always such a gift to photograph.

They were playful and sweet, completely comfortable with one another, and clearly best friends. Those are the moments I live for — the quiet in-between glances, the way they naturally gravitate toward each other, the laughter that feels unprompted and real. Capturing even a small piece of that for their engagement session felt incredibly special.

This session reminded me why I love what I do. It wasn’t just about finally checking Artist Point off my list — it was about experiencing it with the right couple. Chelsea and Daniel are truly too cute, and I already know their wedding next year is going to be something really special. I cannot wait to celebrate with them again and tell the next chapter of their story.
