Summer Wedding at Newcastle Golf Club
This wedding at Newcastle Golf Club is one I’ll always remember — not just for how beautiful the day was, but for how much love surrounded it. From the setting to the people to the deeply meaningful cultural traditions woven throughout the day, it left a lasting imprint on me in the best way.
Sam and Minee were an absolute joy to work with. I had photographed their engagement session months earlier in the winter when I was living in Paris and they happened to be there visiting friends, so being reunited again for their wedding at Newcastle Golf Club felt incredibly full-circle. Seeing couples grow from one chapter to the next is always special, but this wedding at Newcastle Golf Club felt especially meaningful.
They were married at The Golf Club at Newcastle, one of the most iconic Seattle-area wedding venues. Perched high above the city, it offers sweeping views of both the Bellevue and Seattle skylines, rolling green golf courses, and an elevated, elegant atmosphere that feels both grand and welcoming. This wedding at Newcastle Golf Club truly stands out among the iconic Seattle-area wedding venues.
All About Family
One of the things that stood out most during this wedding at Newcastle Golf Club was how deeply connected both Sam and Minee are to their families. You could feel it in every interaction. Sam was actually helped into his suit by his sister, which was such a tender, grounding moment before the ceremony. There was a calmness and closeness to the day that only comes when families are truly present and supportive.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place outside on the patio, surrounded by family and friends, with the city stretching out behind them. It felt open, joyful, and intimate all at once. As the couple exchanged vows, you could see how loved they were — not just by each other, but by everyone gathered there for this wedding at Newcastle Golf Club. White fabric draped from the arbor overlooking the Seattle and Bellevue skyline. It was delicately decorated with white and green florals for a classy, timeless style.
The day itself was a gorgeous summer day — warm, bright, and full of life — but thankfully paired with a gentle breeze that kept everyone comfortable. The couple chose to do a first look before the ceremony, which is something I always love, especially at this venue. The views during their first look were incredible, and it gave them a quiet moment together before the day unfolded around them. Capturing moments during a wedding at Newcastle Golf Club is always a pleasure, especially when the couple chooses to do a first look.
The Reception
During cocktail hour, guests mingled and enjoyed drinks while a live band played, setting a fun and relaxed tone for the evening. It felt less like a formal transition and more like a celebration already underway. The energy was light, happy, and full of connection.
Another unforgettable moment during this wedding at Newcastle Golf Club was when Sam’s a cappella group from college surprised Minee by singing to her during the reception. It was heartfelt, beautiful, and completely unexpected. The room fell quiet as they sang, and it was one of those moments where time seemed to slow down. It was such a genuine expression of love — not just from Sam, but from a group of people who had shared such an important part of his life.
The toasts were incredibly moving. There was so much emotion, gratitude, and love poured into every word that I found myself tearing up behind the camera. You could feel how supported this couple is, and how deeply their community shows up for them.
I also loved that Sam and Minee made a point to include their families throughout the reception, especially through shared dances. Those moments felt intentional and meaningful — a way of honoring the people who shaped them and supported their journey to this day. Overall, every detail of this wedding at Newcastle Golf Club spoke to the couple’s love story.
Traditions
One of my favorite parts of the reception was the way Minee’s family incorporated Korean wedding traditions into the evening. Her family is from South Korea, and the cultural elements they included were incredibly meaningful and so much fun to experience. I love cultural weddings — there’s something so powerful about honoring heritage and sharing it with everyone in the room. These moments added depth, joy, and education for guests who may not have experienced those traditions before.
Sunset Traditions
Typically at The Golf Club at Newcastle, there’s a tradition where a bagpiper plays during sunset, and couples often head out onto the golf course for golden-hour portraits — which are absolutely stunning. Because Sam and Minee had such a full timeline with so many special events planned for their wedding at Newcastle Golf Club, they chose to stay close to the reception and keep the celebration going instead. And honestly, it felt exactly right for their day.
This wedding at Newcastle Golf Club was beautiful, emotional, joyful, and deeply special. It was the kind of wedding that reminds you why these days matter so much — not just for the couple, but for everyone who gets to witness and celebrate alongside them. It’s one I’ll always carry with me.
