An Engagement Session at Discovery Park, Seattle

There are certain locations that never lose their magic, no matter how many times you photograph there—and Discovery Park is absolutely one of them. As a Seattle engagement photographer, it’s hands down one of my favorite places for any type of photoshoot, but especially for engagement sessions. The variety, the light, and the feeling you get while walking through the park make every session feel unique.

This engagement session was extra special, not just because of how beautiful it was, but because of what it’s come to represent over time.

Discovery Park offers something rare: diversity in scenery without ever feeling chaotic. In one engagement session, you can move through open fields, forested paths, dramatic overlooks, and vibrant greenery—all with the Puget Sound quietly anchoring the background.

For engagement photos, this is a dream. It allows couples to feel like they’re on a relaxed walk together rather than hopping from one “photo spot” to another. As a Seattle engagement photographer, I love locations that encourage movement, conversation, and real connection—and Discovery Park does that effortlessly.

Another reason Discovery Park felt like the perfect choice for this session was how closely it aligned with their wedding vision. Their wedding was going to be held at Chambers Bay Golf Club, a venue known for its sweeping water views and mountain backdrop.

Those elements—water, openness, and expansive views—were incredibly important to them when choosing both their wedding venue and their engagement photo location. Discovery Park offered that same sense of space and natural beauty, making the engagement session feel connected to what was ahead.
