Getting to Know Me: A Destination Wedding Photographer Who Leads With Intention

Choosing a wedding or elopement photographer is about so much more than loving someone’s images. It’s about trust, comfort, and knowing the person behind the camera truly understands how you want your wedding day to feel. I believe the best photographs come from real connection — when you feel supported, relaxed, and fully yourself.

So instead of a traditional “about me” page, I wanted to answer some of the most common questions couples ask when they’re getting to know me as their destination wedding photographer.

How Long Have You Been a Wedding Photographer?

I’ve been photographing weddings since 2009, and throughout that time I’ve worked with couples from all walks of life in a wide range of settings — from intimate backyard celebrations to luxury destination weddings across the U.S. and abroad.

That experience allows me to anticipate moments before they happen, adapt quickly to changing environments, and guide my couples calmly and confidently no matter where in the world they’re getting married. I also love people watching when I travel, which helps me understand people and their reactions.

How Would You Describe Your Photography Style?

My photography style is timeless, classic, and rooted in emotion. I don’t chase trends — I focus on honest moments, beautiful light, and thoughtful composition that will feel just as meaningful decades from now.

As a destination wedding photographer, I’m especially drawn to storytelling. I love capturing not just how a wedding looks, but how it feels — the anticipation, the quiet moments, the laughter, and the connection between people who truly matter to you.

“I Feel Awkward in Front of the Camera — Can You Help?”

Absolutely — and this is something I care deeply about. It’s also something I get a lot of positive feedback and reviews from past clients who end up loving their experience working with me.

One of the things couples tell me the most is how comfortable they felt being photographed, even if they normally dislike having their picture taken. My approach is gentle, guided, and never forced. I’ll give direction when needed, while also allowing space for natural moments to unfold.

You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do. My job is to help you feel at ease so your photos feel authentic and natural.

Do You Help With Planning or Just Photography?

I believe photography is part of the planning process, not separate from it. I do love to help you with planning your wedding, but I do it by suggesting and offering guides on topics that will help you make smarter wedding choices for a smoother day. I have had many years of experience and have seen a lot of things go wrong at weddings. My goal as your wedding photographer is to prevent those things from happening by guiding you along the way.

From helping you choose locations and lighting-friendly timelines to preparing you for what to expect during your wedding or engagement session, I see education as part of my role. Especially as a destination wedding photographer, I help couples navigate logistics, travel considerations, and location-specific details so nothing feels overwhelming.

When couples feel prepared, they show up relaxed — and that makes all the difference.

What Types of Weddings Do You Specialize In?

I specialize in timeless and sophisticated weddings, micro weddings, and elopements for modern couples who value experience, connection, and intentional design. I’m drawn to celebrations that feel personal, elevated, and deeply meaningful. I absolutely love details, so weddings that have a lot of personal details are my ideal weddings to photograph. I also love couples who are looking for more than just wedding photos. I work hard to be very intentional in my photographs to capture more than just moments. I love capturing moments and creating art through my photographs.

I’m also proudly LGBTQ+ inclusive and believe every couple deserves to feel safe, respected, and fully celebrated when choosing their photographer — no matter where they’re getting married. After all, love is love. And I LOVE celebrating LOVE.

Where Are You Based, and Do You Travel?

I’m based in Utah and Washington State (near Seattle), but I work with couples worldwide. My most frequent travel locations are California and Paris since I have family and friends there that I love to see and stay with. Travel has always been an important part of my life, and photographing weddings in meaningful locations feels like a natural extension of that.

As a destination wedding photographer, I approach travel weddings with the same level of care and intention as local ones — helping couples feel grounded, confident, and supported, even when they’re far from home. It’s so much fun to travel and see new places. It really helps my creativity in so many ways. I often feel I do better work when I am at locations that I haven’t been to before.

What Sets You Apart as a Destination Wedding Photographer?

Experience, education, intention, attention to details and connection.

After 17+ years in the wedding industry, I’ve learned how to work efficiently while staying present, collaborate seamlessly with planners and vendors, and remain calm in high-emotion moments. I study light, art, and human interaction constantly, and I bring that knowledge into every wedding I photograph. I love learning new things, so I am always trying to grow as a photographer and human being.

My goal isn’t just to deliver beautiful images to you — it’s to create an experience where you feel seen, supported, and genuinely excited to be photographed on your wedding day or for your portrait session. I promise it doesn’t take much to get there either. Just trust me on this one. We will end up having a lot of fun.

What Should Couples Know Before Reaching Out To Book?

You don’t need to have everything figured out.

Wedding photography is one of the few things that lasts long after the day is over. Choosing the right wedding photographer is about trust, comfort, and shared values — and that’s something worth taking your time with.

Whether you’re planning a local wedding, destination elopement or working on hiring a destination wedding photographer for a celebration far from home, I meet couples where they are. If you value clean, elegant photography that feels honest, refined, and emotionally rich — and you want someone who truly cares about your experience — I’d love to connect. And before you go, check out more wedding information on my blog.
