Olympic Sculpture Park Wedding

Neena and Albert’s wedding at Olympic Sculpture Park was one of the most culturally rich, joy-filled days I’ve ever had the privilege of photographing. It was the kind of celebration that wrapped color, tradition, and heartfelt emotion all into one beautiful Seattle afternoon—and I still smile every time I think about it.

Neena and Albert come from Chinese, Indian, and American backgrounds, and their entire day was a true fusion of those cultures. From the moment I arrived, I could feel how intentional they’d been with every detail. Nothing felt generic or “just because.” Their decor, outfits, music, and even the flow of the ceremony and reception were carefully chosen to honor where they came from, who they are, and the families who raised them.

They chose to get married at Olympic Sculpture Park, an urban waterfront park run by the Seattle Art Museum, set right along Elliott Bay with sweeping views of the water, the Olympic Mountains, and the Seattle skyline. It’s such a unique place for a wedding—modern art installations, clean architectural lines, and wide open spaces layered with greenery and views. It felt like the perfect setting for a wedding that was all about blending old and new, tradition and modernity, family history and their own story.

Their ceremony was one of my favorite parts of the day. It was filled with beautiful, sentimental cultural traditions that honored both their Asian and Indian roots. There were moments of blessing and prayer, meaningful rituals, and symbolic gestures that wove their families together in such a powerful way. You could feel the weight of generations behind every step. Guests watched with full hearts, some wiping away tears, others smiling with that quiet, knowing look that says, “This is exactly how it’s meant to be.”

The color throughout the day was incredible. They leaned into rich, vibrant tones—think raspberry, teal, and gold—paired with patterns and textures inspired by Indian design, balanced with a modern, clean aesthetic that felt right at home in the sculpture park setting. One of the sculptures on display during their wedding was a stunning hanging glass piece in a rainbow of colors, and it just tied everything together so beautifully. It was like the park itself was part of the design plan.

And then came the reception… which was an absolute blast.

If the ceremony was all about meaningful traditions, the reception was all about fun. The dance floor at this multicultural Olympic Sculpture Park wedding was nonstop. Their DJ blended Bollywood hits, Chinese and American pop, and classic dance songs, and the crowd responded with so much energy. There were group dances, traditional songs that had entire sides of the family rushing to the floor, and those carefree, joy-filled moments where everyone—from grandparents to college friends—ended up dancing together in one big circle.

I loved watching how naturally their cultures intertwined throughout the night. You’d see a beautifully choreographed dance to an Indian song followed by an upbeat American track that had everyone jumping, then a slower moment where parents or older relatives joined in. It never felt disjointed—it just felt like one big, continuous celebration of who Neena and Albert are and where they come from.

Everywhere I looked, there were personal touches: thoughtful signage, carefully chosen fabrics, table details that echoed their heritage, and clothing that reflected both tradition and modern style. Neena’s bridal look combined classic elegance with vibrant details; Albert’s style balanced sophistication with subtle cultural nods. Even their families’ outfits told a story—saris and suits, bold jewel tones and modern cuts, all blending seamlessly against the backdrop of sculptures, lawn, and waterfront views.

One of my favorite things about photographing this wedding was simply watching the way Neena and Albert looked at each other throughout the day. In the middle of all the bold color and high energy, there were so many quiet, tender moments: a hand squeeze during the ceremony, shared laughter during speeches, and little glances across the room when they thought nobody was watching. They may have had a big, vibrant Olympic Sculpture Park celebration, but at the core of it all, it was just two people who adore each other and were so ready to start their life together.

As the sun dipped lower over Elliott Bay and the city lights began to glow, the park took on this warm, golden-pink light that made everything feel even more magical. Guests spilled out onto the paths and patios, taking photos with the sculptures and the skyline, while the music and laughter carried through the evening air. It felt like the perfect finale to a day that had already given us so much beauty, meaning, and joy.

Looking back, Neena and Albert’s wedding wasn’t just visually stunning (though it absolutely was). It was a masterclass in how to honor multiple cultures in a way that feels authentic, joyful, and deeply personal. It was an Asian and Indian fusion wedding, yes—but even more than that, it was their wedding: full of heart, rich in tradition, bursting with fun, and such an absolute blast to witness and be a part of.

I left that night with tired feet, a full memory card, and a very full heart—so grateful I got to document their incredible, multicultural celebration at Olympic Sculpture Park.
