A Romantic Wedding At The Edgewater House

Lilya and Alfred’s wedding at The Edgewater House was one of those days that felt equal parts heartfelt, joyful, and deeply meaningful. I still think about how their entire celebration felt like a love letter to their families, their heritage, and to each other. From the very first moment I arrived at the venue, I knew this was going to be a special wedding at The Edgewater House.

Tucked along the quiet shoreline of Puget Sound in Olalla, The Edgewater House is a private waterfront estate with sweeping views of the water, tall evergreens, and a long stretch of rocky beach that feels very “PNW” in the best way. It’s secluded and peaceful, but still has plenty of space for a full wedding day—ceremony on the lawn, cocktails by the water, and dancing under the open sky. A wedding at The Edgewater House gives you that rare combination of intimate, home-like warmth and show-stopping coastal views.

One of the first things that struck me about this wedding at The Edgewater House was how kind and loving both of their families were. From the getting-ready moments to the very last dance, there was this constant hum of affection all around them—parents wiping away tears, siblings helping with details, and friends stepping in wherever needed. Lilya and Alfred come from families that are very close-knit, and you could feel that in every hug, every cheer, and every happy tear throughout their wedding at The Edgewater House.

I absolutely loved the cultural traditions they included in their day. They folded in meaningful elements from their heritage—blessings, prayers, and special moments that honored their parents and grandparents. It gave the entire wedding at The Edgewater House this beautiful sense of depth and history. It wasn’t just about two people getting married; it was about two families and cultures coming together in such a joyful, intentional way.

The setting couldn’t have been more perfect. The Edgewater House sits right on the water with expansive lawns and gardens leading down to the beach. Guests arrived to the sound of gentle waves and the soft breeze coming off the Sound, taking in views of the Colvos Passage and the surrounding evergreens. A wedding at The Edgewater House means you’re surrounded by nature at every turn—sea, sky, and forest all in one frame—and Lilya and Alfred really embraced that.

Their ceremony took place outdoors with Puget Sound as their backdrop. The chairs were lined up facing the water, and the altar framed their vows against that shimmering, blue-grey horizon. It was simple, elegant, and so striking. As they exchanged vows, you could hear the water behind them and see the light reflecting off the waves—one of those details that makes a wedding at The Edgewater House feel truly magical. When they walked back down the aisle as husband and wife, their smiles said everything.

After the ceremony, we took advantage of the gorgeous property for portraits. One of my favorite parts of photographing a wedding at The Edgewater House is how many different textures and backdrops you can find within just a few steps—quiet corners of greenery, the open lawn, the beach with driftwood and stones, and the house itself with its cozy, coastal architecture. We wandered down to the shoreline for romantic photos on the beach, let them walk hand in hand along the water, and captured those in-between moments where they’d forget I was there and just soak in the fact that they were finally married.

Meanwhile, guests enjoyed cocktail hour with a view—gathered on the lawn and patio, watching boats drift by and the light slowly soften over the water. The Edgewater House is designed for this kind of easy flow, with indoor and outdoor spaces that blend together so guests can mingle, move, and relax without ever losing sight of the scenery. It’s one of the things that makes a wedding at The Edgewater House feel so inviting.

The reception carried that same warm, relaxed energy. Tables were set so guests could still see the water and the gardens, and the space was filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and heartfelt toasts. Their families shared stories, blessings, and memories that had everyone tearing up one moment and laughing the next. It was such a clear reflection of who Lilya and Alfred are: grounded, family-focused, and full of joy. Celebrating a wedding at The Edgewater House with this group felt like being welcomed into a big, loving family gathering.

As the evening went on, the sky shifted into soft pastels and then deeper blues. String lights and the glow from inside the house created this cozy, romantic atmosphere that wrapped around the entire property. The dance floor was full of energy—traditional music, modern favorites, and so many enthusiastic dancers—it was impossible not to smile watching it all unfold. This is the part of a wedding at The Edgewater House that I always love: when the daylight fades, the water turns dark and glassy, and the whole celebration turns into a glowing little pocket of light and music on the shoreline.

Looking back on Lilya and Alfred’s wedding at The Edgewater House, what stands out to me most isn’t just how beautiful the setting was (though it truly was breathtaking). It’s their sweetness with each other, the way they honored their families and traditions, and the genuine love that filled every corner of the day. Their wedding at The Edgewater House was romantic, meaningful, and full of heart—and I feel so lucky I was there to capture it.
