I believe a photograph should do three things: catch the light beautifully, tell the truth about the moment, and make you feel something when you look at it ten years from now. That's what I'm chasing every single time I pick up a camera.
BEHIND THE LENS
Photography found me before I found it. I grew up watching my grandfather frame a shot, learning without realizing I was learning. When my youngest was born in 2009, I picked up a camera to capture my own kids — and somewhere between the first roll and the hundredth wedding, it became the thing I couldn't imagine not doing.
What keeps me going after 17 years is the same thing that started it all: a genuine love for people and an obsession with preserving the moments that matter. I still travel the world every year to learn from the best photographers working today. Not because I have to. Because I can't imagine stopping.
OUR APPROACH IS SIMPLY THIS:
I show up calm, blend into the background, and make myself feel like part of the family — until the moment happens, and I'm exactly where I need to be. After 17 years, anticipating emotions before they unfold and finding the details most people walk right past isn't something I think about. It's just how I see.

I didn't think I would be a nervous bride, but I was!
I felt almost frozen when getting ready with my bridesmaids. Courtney ensured me that after our first look, my would ease, and they absolutely did. She knows what she is doing to make the photos turn out. Our wedding photos are so !

My Values
I care about how you feel first. Getting in front of a camera can feel vulnerable and scary. I know from my own experience. Every session starts with one goal: make you feel so comfortable you stop thinking about the camera entirely. When that happens, the photographs take care of themselves.
I care about the details others miss, like the light, the quiet moments, the things you'll want to remember that you didn't even know were happening.
And I care about delivering more than you expected. 17 years as a photographer, that standard hasn't dropped. If anything, it's gotten harder to meet, because I keep raising it.

BEAUTIFUL
PHOTOS
effortlessly captured
Working with me isn't just about the photographs, though those will be the most beautiful images you've ever had of yourself. It's about having someone by your side who makes the whole thing feel easy, enjoyable, and completely yours. Not stiff, not rushed, not like you're performing for someone you just met.
THE Courtney Bowlden EXPERIENCE
You'll be guided through every step — from our first consultation to your engagement session, your wedding day timeline, and everything in between. My clients consistently say the experience felt more like spending the day with a friend than hiring a vendor. That's exactly the way I want it to feel.
Gorgeous photographs and an experience you actually enjoy — that's the standard I hold myself to at every single wedding and session I shoot. You deserve both, and with me you get both, every time.

"Courtney was incredibly efficient,
which is absolutely essential when you’re taking family photos with kids. She somehow managed to capture those perfect split-second moments between all the movement, and the results were better than I could have imagined. The photos feel natural, beautiful, and truly capture our family. I will treasure these pictures for years to come. Highly recommend!"

this is My why
choose
I chose it because of everything that happens in front of one.
The people. The celebrations. The moments that only exist for a second and then live forever in a photograph. I've traveled the world for this work, stood in rooms full of joy and tears and dancing, and walked away every single time feeling like I got the better end of the deal.
17 years later, that hasn't changed. Every wedding, every family session, every couple I meet teaches me something. The work keeps me inspired, keeps me moving, and keeps me completely certain I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.
That's why I do this. And honestly, it's why I'm still getting better at it.
Do you travel for weddings and elopements outside of Utah?
Yes. Travel is central to how this business operates. Courtney regularly photographs weddings and elopements in Seattle, California, Colorado, and Paris, in addition to weddings throughout Utah. Many couples specifically choose a destination photographer because they want someone who already understands how to work a new location, adapt to unfamiliar light, and move through an unfamiliar venue with confidence.
What makes your photography style different?
At its heart, this style is about capturing a feeling of timeless romance through a modern lens — refined and editorial, favoring genuine emotion and natural light over posed, stiff portraits. Rather than directing every second, the goal is to create a comfortable enough environment that real moments happen on their own — a laugh between vows, a quiet look before walking down the aisle. Editing is consistent across every gallery, so years from now, these images still feel like a love story rather than a trend that's already dated.
Do you offer drone or film photography?
Yes, both drone photography and film photography are available upon request for an additional fee. Because these are specialty add-ons, they need to be requested during your consultation or at the time of booking so they can be included in your contract.
What's included in a wedding photography package?
A typical package includes coverage hours for the day, all edited high-resolution images, and an online gallery for downloading and sharing. All wedding packages include an engagement session, a second shooter, and options for albums or prints from exclusive print shops. Because every wedding is different, I build each package around the couple's actual day rather than forcing it into a rigid tier.
How far in advance should we book our wedding photographer?
Most couples book their photographer nine to eighteen months before their wedding date, and popular dates in peak season fill even earlier. Destination weddings and elopements often need additional lead time for travel planning and permits. If you have a date in mind, reaching out as soon as possible is the safest way to make sure it's still open.
how long will it take to get our wedding gallery back?
Depending on the time of year, I usually deliver the full wedding gallery 1 to 2 months after your wedding date. I always make sure to include a handful of sneak peeks after your wedding day to keep you excited for whats to come.
Reach out and I'll be in touch within 24 hours. We'll schedule a virtual consultation to talk through your vision and see if we're the right fit for each other. If we are, I'll send over a custom proposal, and once everything is signed and your retainer is submitted, your date is locked in. From there I'll guide you through every step, like engagement session planning, wedding day prep, and my detailed planning guides. It's important to me that by the time your wedding day arrives, all you have to do is show up and enjoy it.
