A Dreamy Destination Maui Wedding | Olivia & Ronnie

Olivia and Ronnie’s destination wedding in Maui, Hawaii was the perfect blend of tropical romance and timeless elegance. Held at a stunning oceanside venue called Maui’s Pineapple Chapel surrounded by swaying palms, dramatic cliffs, and crystal-clear water, every detail was thoughtfully curated—from Olivia’s breathtaking lace gown to the soft pastel florals and the couple’s barefoot ceremony on the sand.

They exchanged vows with the ocean breeze in their hair (it was very windy this day), the sound of waves crashing nearby, and a golden Hawaiian sunset setting the mood for portraits that were nothing short of magical. The warm light and natural beauty of Maui created the most dreamy atmosphere. As a destination wedding photographer, it’s always a joy to capture love stories in places as naturally beautiful and laid-back as Hawaii. Olivia and Ronnie’s wedding reminded me why I love what I do.

Their guests were treated to a celebration filled with aloha spirit—live acoustic music, locally inspired cuisine, and heartfelt toasts that had everyone in tears and laughter. After dinner, everyone danced under glowing string lights and a canopy of stars, barefoot in the sand, soaking in the tropical air and Olivia and Ronnie’s undeniable joy. It was relaxed, emotional, and overflowing with love.

Planning a Destination Wedding in Hawaii: Tips for a Seamless Celebration

Thinking of saying “I do” on the islands? Whether you’re dreaming of a full wedding weekend or an intimate elopement, Maui is one of the most romantic and photogenic places on earth. But destination weddings take a little extra planning. Here’s how to set yourself up for a stress-free, beautiful celebration:

1. Hire Vendors Who Travels There Often

Work with a photographer (hi!) and planner who are familiar with the island, its light, logistics, and weather patterns. I’ve worked weddings in Hawaii and know how to help you navigate everything from timing to tide charts.

2. Visit the Island in Advance (If Possible)

It’s always a great idea to visit Maui before your wedding to scout venues, meet vendors, and get a feel for the area. If a trip isn’t possible, video calls and virtual tours are the next best thing.

3. Keep It Simple and Intentional

One of the best parts of a destination wedding is that you don’t need a ton of décor—let the natural beauty of the island shine. Choose details that reflect the place and your story, like tropical florals, shell accents, or welcome bags with local treats.

4. Plan for the Weather (and Have a Backup Plan)

Hawaii weather is usually gorgeous, but occasional rain showers are common—especially in the afternoons. Schedule your ceremony for earlier in the day if possible, and always have a tent or covered option available.

5. Consider Your Guests’ Experience

Help your guests make the most of their trip by providing travel tips, hotel blocks, and a welcome dinner or beach hangout. Olivia and Ronnie made their wedding feel like a relaxing vacation for everyone, which added to the joy and connection.

6. Schedule Your Photography Around the Light

This is an important one! Golden hour in Hawaii is a dream—but it’s short! We’ll work together to time your portraits perfectly with the light. I always scout photo locations beforehand and build a timeline that makes room for natural, relaxed moments.

Olivia and Ronnie’s wedding was a reminder that destination weddings don’t have to be complicated or over-the-top to be deeply meaningful and incredibly beautiful. With the right location, thoughtful planning, and a focus on connection, your wedding can feel like a celebration and a getaway.

If you’re considering a destination wedding in Hawaii, Utah, Seattle, or anywhere in the world, I’d love to help you create and capture a day that feels completely you. From golden hour portraits to barefoot first dances under the stars, these are the moments worth remembering.

Planning your wedding in Hawaii? Let’s bring your dream to life, one frame at a time.
