A Monet-Inspired Wedding Photoshoot at Christiansen’s Nursery: Dreaming in Pastels

After returning from France in the Spring, I was so inspired by Monet and the beautiful pastel colors he used in his paintings. I rounded up some amazing vendors here in Seattle and asked to collaborate with them on this dream of mine of creating something inspired by Monet for future weddings. Imagine walking into Christiansen’s Nursery and being greeted by a scene that feels like it leapt straight from a Claude Monet painting. Soft, filtered light illuminates delicate blooms in every shade of pastel, creating an ambiance of timeless romance. For this styled shoot, we leaned into the beauty of Monet’s dreamy palette to craft a wedding inspiration like no other

A Statement in Pastel Purple

The bride’s dress was the showstopper of this shoot, setting the tone for the entire design. A pastel purple tulle gown is not something you see every day, and that’s precisely what made it magical. Layers of airy fabric flowed like watercolor strokes, creating movement and texture that felt alive in the breeze. The soft lavender hue was delicate yet bold, a nod to individuality and creativity.

Pairing this striking dress with a bouquet of blush roses, soft blue delphiniums, and ivory peonies tied with a mauve silk ribbon added depth and harmony. It was a look that was both unexpected and utterly enchanting, perfect for the modern bride who isn’t afraid to break tradition and embrace her unique style.

Monet’s Palette in the Details

To complement the dress, we incorporated a spectrum of pastels throughout the design. Think sage greens, butter yellows, and dusty pinks woven seamlessly into every detail. The floral arrangements mirrored the feeling of an overgrown garden—loose, organic, and wild—while the tablescape featured hand-painted plates and softly textured linens in lilac and cream.

Even the cake, a three-tiered masterpiece, embraced the theme. Its ombré design shifted from pale purple to soft ivory, adorned with delicate edible flowers that looked like they’d been plucked from Monet’s garden in Giverny.

The Magic of Christiansen’s Nursery

Christiansen’s Nursery was the perfect venue for this photoshoot, providing a lush, natural backdrop that elevated every detail. The nursery’s glasshouse, brimming with verdant plants and dappled sunlight, became a haven of inspiration. The bride and groom wandered through the gardens, pausing by the pond to reflect the serenity and romance that defined the day.

An arbor covered in climbing roses framed the ceremony space, while mismatched vintage chairs added a touch of charm. The intimate setting, combined with the pastel hues, felt like an artist’s dream—a perfect harmony of nature and design.

Capturing the Essence of Pastels

One of the goals of this photoshoot was to capture the emotional softness that pastels evoke. The bride’s laughter as she twirled in her flowing gown, the groom’s gentle gaze, and the light filtering through the leaves created moments that felt like they could only exist in a painting. Using a combination of wide apertures and natural light, we focused on creating images that felt ethereal and timeless, just like Monet’s masterpieces.

Why Choose Pastels for Your Wedding?

Pastels have a unique way of evoking calm, romance, and elegance. Whether you’re drawn to their subtle beauty or want to break away from more traditional wedding colors, pastels offer endless possibilities for creativity. They can make a bold statement while maintaining an air of softness and sophistication, much like the lavender dress in this shoot.

Let Your Wedding Be a Masterpiece

This Monet-inspired shoot at Christiansen’s Nursery reminds us that weddings are an opportunity to express individuality and creativity. Whether you’re dreaming of a pastel purple gown, lush garden florals, or an intimate venue that feels like a secret garden, your wedding can be as unique and artistic as you are.

Take inspiration from the art you love, the colors that speak to your heart, and the natural beauty around you. Together, they’ll tell a story as timeless and beautiful as a Monet painting. For more spring inspired weddings
