Genesis Farm & Gardens – A Top Choice Among Washington Outdoor Wedding Venues

Some wedding days feel quiet in the very best way—grounded, intentional, and full of meaning. This intimate garden wedding at Genesis Farm & Gardens, one of the premier Washington outdoor wedding venues, was exactly that. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this wasn’t about putting on a show. It was about love, community, and choosing a setting that felt like a reflection of who they are.

This couple met at church, and that foundation of faith and connection shaped the entire day. They wanted a simple ceremony, surrounded only by their closest family and friends—no extra noise, no distractions. When they found Genesis Farm & Gardens, they knew immediately it was the right place among Washington outdoor wedding venues. The venue feels tucked away and peaceful, almost like stepping into a storybook garden, and it set the tone perfectly for the kind of wedding they envisioned.

Why Genesis Farm & Gardens Is So Special

Genesis Farm & Gardens is one of those venues that feels dreamy without trying. Lush greenery, winding garden paths, blooming flowers, and thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces make it feel whimsical and romantic from every angle. It’s intimate by nature, which makes it ideal for smaller weddings where connection and presence matter most.

One of the things I love about this venue is how many unique photo locations it offers. Every corner feels intentional—arched greenery, tucked-away garden paths, open spaces filled with soft light. It invites you to slow down and explore, which is exactly what this couple did.

A Mystical Summer Wedding Day

What we didn’t expect was the weather—or more specifically, the atmosphere.

The day was overcast, with a soft haze in the air from local summer fires in the area. While smoke is never something to celebrate, it is very normal during summer weddings in the Pacific Northwest and throughout Washington. I’ve photographed many weddings in similar conditions over the years.

And while it’s always important to acknowledge the reality of wildfire season, there’s also something undeniably beautiful about the way smoke softens the light. The haze created a muted, ethereal glow that made the gardens feel even more mystical and romantic. The light was diffused, the colors softened, and everything felt calm and dreamlike—almost as if the entire day was wrapped in a gentle veil.

From a photography perspective, it added depth and mood that you simply can’t recreate. As awful as the circumstances can be, I’ve always loved how smoky skies photograph. This day was a perfect example of that balance—real life unfolding in a way that still held beauty.

A Ceremony Rooted in Meaning

Their ceremony was simple and heartfelt, just as they had hoped. Surrounded by the people who know them best, they exchanged vows in a setting that felt peaceful and sacred. There was no rush, no pressure—just quiet moments, meaningful words, and so much love in the air.

Small ceremonies like this always feel deeply personal. You can feel the emotion more clearly. Every guest is fully present. Every moment matters.

A First Look With the Bridesmaids

One of my favorite moments of the day was the bride’s first look—not with her partner, but with her bridesmaids.

Watching her share that moment with the women who support her most was incredibly special. The excitement, the happy tears, the laughter—it was one of those moments that felt pure and unfiltered. It set such a joyful tone for the rest of the day and reminded me how meaningful it can be to honor those relationships, too.

Exploring the Property for Portraits

Because Genesis Farm & Gardens offers so many beautiful backdrops, the couple chose to spend extra time doing portraits around the property—and it was absolutely the right decision. We wandered through the gardens, paused in quiet corners, and let moments unfold naturally as they soaked in the day together.

This venue truly shines when you give yourself time. There’s no need to rush from one spot to another. Each location feels distinct yet cohesive, allowing for a wide variety of images without ever leaving the property. It’s perfect for couples who value photography and want their portraits to feel relaxed, romantic, and unhurried.

A Day That Felt Exactly Right

This wedding was a beautiful reminder that intimacy can be incredibly powerful. With a meaningful venue, a simple ceremony, and intentional choices throughout the day, everything felt aligned. The gardens, the light, the quiet joy—it all came together in a way that felt effortless and sincere.

Genesis Farm & Gardens is truly a gem for couples dreaming of an intimate, whimsical garden wedding. And when you pair that setting with a couple who values connection over spectacle, the result is a wedding day that feels timeless, soulful, and deeply personal.
