A Classic, Scottish-Inspired Edgewater Hotel Wedding in Downtown Seattle
There’s something so special about an Edgewater Hotel wedding. The mix of sweeping Elliott Bay views, cozy wood interiors, and that iconic downtown Seattle skyline gives it this warm, timeless feel that you just can’t recreate anywhere else. Meg and Sean leaned all the way into that charm and then layered it with deeply personal details, Scottish heritage, and a classic vintage vibe that felt completely their own.
From the very beginning, this wedding at the Edgewater Hotel was a true collaboration between the couple and Shiloh at The Bubbly Soirée. Together, they designed a day that felt intentional, romantic, and rooted in story. Nothing felt overly staged or trendy—it felt like Meg and Sean.
Their Vision for an Edgewater Hotel Wedding
Meg and Sean were first drawn to the Edgewater because of its history and character. This is one of Seattle’s most famous hotels (hello, rock-and-roll legends staying here back in the day!), and it gave them the perfect canvas for a wedding that felt both elegant and relaxed.
They wanted their guests to truly experience downtown Seattle: the water just outside the windows, the ferries drifting by, and that moody Pacific Northwest light. An Edgewater Hotel wedding naturally offers all of that, but the couple took it a step further by weaving in personal touches that honored both place and heritage.
Scottish Heritage Woven Into the Details
Sean’s Scottish heritage played a huge role in the overall design. Instead of choosing colors at random, he looked to his family tartan for inspiration. Those rich tones became the foundation for their wedding palette—from the florals to the linens to the tiniest finishing details.
One of my favorite examples of this was the cake-cutting moment. The couple used a cake knife wrapped with a ribbon in their tartan colors. It was such a tiny detail, but it carried so much meaning. That’s what made this Edgewater Hotel wedding feel so special: nothing was chosen just because it was “pretty.” It all had a story.
The floral design by Shelby Bond in Bloom echoed those same tartan-inspired hues—lush, romantic arrangements that felt both classic and slightly wild, as if they’d just been gathered from a garden on the coast. Paired with rentals from CORT Party Rental, Designs by Ashlie Smith, and Flora Nova, the space felt layered, thoughtful, and beautifully tailored to the couple’s vision.
Meg’s Classic, Vintage Bridal Style
Meg’s bridal look brought the “classic vintage” side of their vision fully to life. Her gown from Samila Bridal was the perfect blend of timeless and romantic. The fabric, silhouette, and details all had that old-world elegance that felt right at home in such an iconic Seattle venue.
Her bridesmaids wore dresses from BHLDN, which added to the refined, vintage-inspired aesthetic. The mix of textures and soft tones played so nicely against the wood tones and water views of the Edgewater. Hair and makeup by Michelle Wight Hair and Makeup completed the look—polished but still natural, enhancing each person’s features while keeping the overall vibe soft and romantic.
The guys looked equally sharp in tuxes from Generation Tux, giving the whole wedding party a cohesive, formal look that still felt warm and approachable.
A Reception Full of Warmth, Music, and Sweet Details
The reception was where everything truly came together. Guests gathered in the Edgewater’s event space, surrounded by candlelight, florals, and the glow of the city through the windows.
The paper goods by Impress Ink Design tied everything together with beautifully designed stationery that matched the wedding’s aesthetic—elegant fonts, thoughtful layouts, and a cohesive look from invitations to day-of details.
Dessert was a total standout: cakes and sweets by Deep Sea Sugar and Salt. Their creations are not only delicious but also visually stunning, and they looked right at home on the dessert table. That tartan-ribbon-wrapped cake knife waited nearby for Meg and Sean’s big moment.
And when it came time to celebrate, Chris Graves Music kept the dance floor full. There’s something about a live, thoughtful DJ who can read the room and move seamlessly from heartfelt moments to full-on party energy. The music wrapped around the entire evening, giving this Edgewater Hotel wedding a soundtrack that fit every part of the night.
Why I Loved This Edgewater Hotel Wedding So Much
What stood out most about Meg and Sean’s Edgewater Hotel wedding was how beautifully it blended history, heritage, and heart.
They chose an iconic Seattle venue that already carries a sense of nostalgia.
They layered in Sean’s Scottish roots through their color palette and small symbolic touches.
They leaned into a classic, vintage-inspired style that felt elegant but never stuffy.
It was a reminder that the best weddings don’t have to shout to be memorable. Sometimes it’s the quiet, meaningful choices—the tartan ribbon on the cake knife, the thought put into each vendor, the way the design reflects who you are as a couple—that make the biggest impact.
If you’re dreaming of your own Edgewater Hotel wedding in downtown Seattle, Meg and Sean’s day is such beautiful inspiration for how to create a celebration that is both timeless and deeply personal. And if you’re looking for a wedding photographer who knows how to capture the mood, the emotion, and all those intentional details at the Edgewater and beyond, I’d be honored to be part of your story.
