An Elegant Outdoor Wedding at The Ivory Oak

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that blends modern charm with Texas Hill Country beauty, The Ivory Oak in Wimberley, just outside of Austin, is everything you could want—and more. I had the honor of photographing this stunning wedding day for a couple whose love, style, and effortless energy made every moment a joy to capture. I have known Hannah since she was a young teenager, so being able to photographer her wedding was such a dream and truly special for me.

From the sun-drenched oak trees to the clean architectural lines of the venue, this wedding had the perfect mix of nature, elegance, and heartfelt emotion. As a destination wedding photographer, I’m always excited to photograph couples in locations that feel unique and personal—and The Ivory Oak delivered that and then some.

The Venue: Modern Meets Nature in the Heart of Texas

The Ivory Oak is a hidden gem in Wimberley, Texas. Nestled among towering oak trees, the venue offers a peaceful, secluded feel while still being modern, open, and airy. The ceremony space is tucked under a canopy of oaks, creating a natural cathedral of light and shade. It’s serene and magical—and photographs beautifully in any season.

The indoor reception space has crisp white walls, floor-to-ceiling windows, and wood accents that let couples put their own twist on the design. It’s minimal enough to be a blank slate, yet warm and inviting, with tons of natural light. The combination of clean lines and rustic charm made it the ideal setting for this wedding’s aesthetic.

The Details: Elegant Simplicity with Heartfelt Touches

One of the things I loved most about this day was how the couple focused on meaningful details and moments. Everything felt personal, intentionally thought out, and effortlessly stylish. I loved that the couple didn’t do a first look, but instead prayed together before the wedding without seeing one another.

The bride wore a modern Sarah Seven gown —perfectly balanced between classic and contemporary. Her bouquet featured neutral florals with soft textures: garden roses, ranunculus, and greenery that complemented the natural surroundings without overpowering them.

The bridesmaids were in earthy tones that blended with the trees and soft Texas light, while the groomsmen wore classic black suits with warm-toned ties that tied the look together beautifully. The entire wedding party looked cohesive, yet not too “matchy,” which always photographs so well.

The Ceremony: Under the Trees, Surrounded by Love

The ceremony took place beneath a canopy of oak trees, with wooden chairs, soft acoustic music, and the most romantic light filtering through the branches. It was quiet and heartfelt, full of emotion and natural beauty.

I always tell my couples that natural light makes all the difference in your wedding photos, and this ceremony space is a perfect example. The dappled sunlight gave us the softest glow, enhancing every moment—from the bride’s walk down the aisle to the couple’s first kiss as husband and wife.

Golden Hour Magic & Portraits

After the ceremony, we snuck away for portraits during golden hour—and the light did not disappoint. The property surrounding The Ivory Oak has open fields, trees, and quiet corners that let couples relax and be themselves. These are some of my favorite moments to capture: the nerves are gone, the joy has settled in, and there’s space to breathe and connect.

The couple’s chemistry, paired with the soft Texas light, created some truly timeless images. Whether dancing barefoot in the grass or wrapped in each other’s arms beneath the trees, every shot was filled with authenticity and ease.

The Reception: Celebrating Under the Stars

The evening transitioned into an elegant, laid-back reception filled with laughter, heartfelt toasts, and great music. Inside the Ivory Oak’s main hall, candles flickered on long farmhouse tables, while outside, string lights and cool night air invited guests to mingle and dance.

As the night went on, guests hit the dance floor, desserts were devoured, and the newlyweds stole a few quiet moments beneath the stars. These are the memories that last—the moments of stillness, celebration, and joy that tell the full story.

Weddings like this one at The Ivory Oak are a photographer’s dream: full of natural beauty, emotional connection, and thoughtful design. If you’re planning a wedding in Austin or the Texas Hill Country, this venue is worth every bit of your consideration.

Whether you’re hosting a destination wedding in Texas or planning something closer to home, I’d love to help you document your day in a way that feels honest, elevated, and completely you.

Back when I first started photography, I met this lovely lady named Stacy. And through her I met her lovely daughter Hannah. I have known this family for close to 11 years now, maybe longer, and I feel so truly blessed to know them. They are some of the kindest, down to heart souther ladies. I never would have imagined I would be taking Hannah’s wedding photos! She has grown up to be such an amazing, kind, Christ-like leader. I loved being able to photographer her wedding for her. I absolutely adore Nick and know you guys are so right for one another!

Also, how stunning is this venue, The Ivory Oak?! It’s new and I truly hope to be able to photograph another wedding here. The local area is breathtaking! And speaking of breathtaking, Hannah looked incredible in her Sarah Seven wedding dress, did she not?! It was as if it was made for her!
