Summer Sodo Park Wedding

Kevin and Morgan’s wedding was one of those days that had me smiling from the moment I arrived until long after I got home. These two (and their families) are such a fun, spunky group to spend time with, and their celebration was the perfect example of what I think of when I picture a summer Sodo Park wedding—full of joy, personality, and so much laughter.

From the very start, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be a quiet, reserved kind of day. Their families love to have fun, and the energy was high in the best way. The toasts might go down as some of my favorites of all time. Kevin’s brothers got up and gave one of the greatest speeches I’ve ever heard—everyone was rolling on the floor laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. It’s those moments that make a summer Sodo Park wedding feel so alive and unforgettable.

Their celebration took place at SoDo Park, one of my all-time favorite venues in Seattle. Tucked into the SoDo industrial district just a few minutes from downtown, SoDo Park is a 100-year-old warehouse-turned-event-space that blends rustic charm with modern elegance. With 20-foot vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, original wood walls and floors, and huge multi-paned windows that let in tons of natural light, it has this incredible mix of historic character and contemporary style that photographs beautifully—especially for a summer Sodo Park wedding.

One of the things I love most about a summer Sodo Park wedding is how flexible and spacious the venue is. The open floor plan can host up to 300 guests for a seated reception or 500 standing, which makes it perfect for big celebrations where you want all your favorite people in one room. The warm wood tones, high ceilings, and soft lighting create such a cozy atmosphere once the sun goes down, but during the day those big windows flood the space with gorgeous, glowy light. For Kevin and Morgan’s wedding, it meant we had endless beautiful backdrops without ever having to leave the building—a huge perk for any summer Sodo Park wedding when you want the day to flow smoothly.

The staff at SoDo Park and Herban Feast Catering are always such a dream to work with. Herban Feast provides all of the in-house catering at the venue, offering farm-to-fork menus with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and they truly go above and beyond to take care of everyone. For Kevin and Morgan’s summer Sodo Park wedding, the food was as memorable as the decor—beautifully presented, delicious, and tailored to their tastes. It’s one of those venues where you know your guests will be talking about the food and the atmosphere long after the night is over.

And then there was Morgan’s dress. I absolutely loved her BHLDN wedding gown—not just because it was stunning, but because she turned it into two dresses: one for the day and one for the night. It was such a fun, classy move and so perfectly “her.” During the ceremony and portraits, she wore the full, romantic version of the dress. Later, she transformed it into a more party-ready look for the reception, which fit the energy of this summer Sodo Park wedding perfectly. BHLDN always has such beautiful, thoughtfully designed gowns at really accessible prices, and Morgan’s choice was a perfect example of that.

All day long, Kevin and Morgan had me laughing right along with them. They’re the kind of couple who are clearly best friends—teasing, joking, and lifting each other up—and that energy spread to everyone around them. Their families welcomed me in like I’d known them for years, and I loved getting to be there not just as their photographer, but as someone who was genuinely enjoying the celebration. It’s impossible to stand in the middle of a summer Sodo Park wedding like this and not feel incredibly grateful for this job.

As the evening went on and the lights at SoDo Park began to glow, the space transformed into this warm, romantic cocoon—twinkle lights overhead, candles flickering on the tables, and guests filling the dance floor. The laughter from those unforgettable toasts carried into the rest of the night, and the dance floor stayed full of people who clearly love Kevin and Morgan so much.

Looking back at their images now, I’m instantly transported to that summer Sodo Park wedding: the sound of glasses clinking during toasts, Kevin’s brothers making everyone roar with laughter, Morgan twirling in her BHLDN dress, and the beautiful, historic space of SoDo Park wrapping it all in rustic-elegant charm. If you’re dreaming of your own summer Sodo Park wedding, you might also love taking a peek at this Sodo Park wedding in Seattle for even more inspiration.

Kevin and Morgan’s day was fun, heartfelt, stylish, and full of personality—everything a summer Sodo Park wedding should be, and such a joy for me to photograph.
